The children were set the challenge to create a den big enough to hold their whole group and to have a roof over their heads.

The children could use tarpaulins, bamboo canes, pegs and resources found in the garden.

When warned the storm was coming ,the children had to take refuge in their den and look for things with wings. When storm had passed they could venture out.

Children took a tour of the dens at the end and shared what they liked about the others’ dens. Some suggested helpful improvements.

The children then enjoyed playing in their dens!
