10/10/25 – Woodland Map Making

P5 have been learning all bout maps in their ‘It’s a Small World’ topic. Today they went to the Six Mile Water Park to create a map of the park. They used 4 wooden rods to make a frame and then gathered natural resources to create different areas in the park. They were encouraged to think about height, texture and colour when designing their maps. As an extension children walked around the site to view others maps and tried to work out what the different items represented.

See attached lesson plan for further details.
