(NIFSA Little LAFS) Sticky Situations by Dr Emer Leavy

We look forward to welcoming Dr Emer Leavy who is a HCPC registered clinical psychologist who spent some time working in CAMHS in Newcastle Upon Tyne post training. After working with complex mental health needs, becoming a mother and spending some time abroad she continued to be interested in the prevention of mental health problems in children. This led her to forest school. She has been working as a forest leader in her own school Nurture and Nature for two years and feels her background in psychology has really helped her manage all kinds of sticky situations with children, parents and staff.

In this session she will reflect on how psychological thinking can help with sticky situations that arise in forest school including managing children’s and staff anxiety, managing boundaries with children who struggle within them and aggressive behaviour.
