Cool Clouds 03/03/2026
Introduction: Recap over the water cycle. Discuss the importance of clouds in the water cycle. Explain how clouds are little droplets of water or ice crystals in the sky.
Types of clouds: Brief talk about cirrus, cumulus and stratus clouds. Show visuals.
Parashoot game-1. “Catch the Cloud” (Cloudy/Stormy)
How to Play: The group lifts the parachute high into the air and brings it down quickly to trap a large bubble of air underneath—this is the “cloud” or “storm”.
2. Show the cloud- adult demonstrates 3 different moves, each one representing one of the clouds. Children to show their understanding as adult shouts out the different names of the clouds.
The children will then go to the grass area, lye on their back and use the frames to search for different clouds in the sky,
Group challenge: Split into three groups. Find natural materials that could represent each cloud.
Cirrus – feather like – long pieces of grass, palms etc.
Cumulus – fluffy- large leaves put together, bark etc.
Stratus- blanket like- long sticks put together.
