Phonological Awareness with a P3 Literacy Support group.
Discuss the five senses. Wearing ‘blind goggles’ to enhance sense of hearing, point in the direction of a sound you hear. Discuss sounds heard after listening time.
Sticks and Stumps – beating syllables on stumps.
Progress to partners giving a word and guiding ‘blind’ partner to take the number of steps for the beats in that word or phrase.
Rules beforehand and free play afterwards.
All children thought it was great and loved the goggles, beating the sticks and this group particularly love climbing trees.
