o Children will be asked to make a circle – children brought to new outdoor forest school seating area
o Rules were recapped – blow whistle once (freeze) and blow whistle twice (come back from wherever you are) and use of the boundary flags and lastly to have fun
o Recap safety procedures and what we can do with certain areas of our forect
o Recap respect – that we only use materials that are already on the forest floor (not pulling from trees)
o Quick recap of what language features (similes, metaphors, adjectives etc)
o Children are split into different groups – children will be allowed to choose their own groups
o Children will be given paper bowls and task explained of having to find natural materials for a ‘potion’.
o When the children gather all materials they will use the iPad to take photos of what they have found/their method
o Challenge – children must think of why they are using that material in their potion and which language feature they can use alongside it when writing up their recipe card afterwards.
o Whistle will be blown at various points to give children reminders and refocus on the activity
o Children gathered in and groups explain the various roles they took on and which materials they managed to collect
o Reminder to leave no trace and to tidy our area
o Picture with the had fun/yuck sign – ask children why they felt this way
o Extension task – children will use PicCollage to put together a recipe card of pictures, language features and methods in a group during a follow up lesson.
