21/5/26 Bug Hunt

During the forest school session, the children took part in a bug hunt using shovels, tubs, and magnifying glasses. They explored different areas of the forest floor and carefully searched for minibeasts. The children found a variety of creatures including woodlice, millipedes, beetles, and worms.
Using magnifying glasses, they closely observed the features and movements of the minibeasts, showing curiosity and excitement. The activity introduced the concept of microhabitats, helping the children understand where different creatures live and why these environments are important.
The importance of caring for minibeasts was discussed, encouraging the children to handle them gently and return them to their habitats. This helped to develop respect for living things and an awareness of the natural environment.
