Look at leaves

Children were appropriately attired and brought to wooded area at the front of our site.
The space to be used was indicated with signs and rules of forest school revisited.
The children were asked to collect 2 leaves…..They then went to our outdoor classroom space and were divided in 2 groups.
The adult asked each child in turn to set out one of their leaves. The shape and colour was discussed and as each child set their leaf down the adult supported the child to use language of comparison and size as each leaf was compared.
We then sorted the leaves for type.
The leaves in each set were then counted.
The children finished the session by returning all natural elements and indicating how they enjoyed the session.
