June 2026 – Smushed Face jars seed planting

Session was repeated four times with multiple groups.
Before lessons photos were taken of each child with their face squished against a window. These were printed and laminated ready for the Forest School session and the children were asked to bring in a jar.
Children half filled their jar with soil, put their photo in, planted a nasturtium seed, topped jar up with soil and watered it. Lots of discussion about what plants need to grow and what they need to do to help their seed grow.
Groups were a KS1 class with a KS2 class and the older children helped the younger children. All had free play together afterwards.
