6/5/26 – Mosaic Tiles

Today, P4 visited Six Mile Water River Park to create Roman-inspired mosaic tiles using natural materials. The lesson began with a discussion about the patterns, shapes and colours found in Roman mosaics and how these artworks were created.

The children then explored the Forest School area, searching for materials such as leaves, seeds, stones and sticks. Working in pairs, they used their creativity to arrange these items into colourful mosaic designs, sharing ideas and helping one another throughout the activity.

At the end of the session, the children presented their mosaics to the class and talked about the materials, patterns and designs they had chosen. They reflected on their work, celebrated each other’s creativity and discussed what they enjoyed most about creating art using natural materials.
