30th April 2026
In our session this week, we started with our usual whistle game, to familiarise the children with our site, boundary flags and Forest School rules. P3/4 joined us for Forest School this week, and although they have attended Forest School before, they do not join every week. Following the whistle game, the the children were split into smaller groups and encouraged to find interesting items, hide them behind their backs and describe them for the others in their group to guess. There was lots of wonderful descriptive language!
Afterwards, each group was encouraged to find a space to sit and listen – noting all the different sounds they could hear to an adult.
Each group was then given tarps, bamboo sticks and pegs, and encouraged to create their own little listening den. The children really enjoyed the relaxed nature of today’s session and enjoyed spending time in their dens once built – listening, chatting and cloud spotting!
Time was given for free play before the session ended. Children chose to dig, play at the mud kitchens, or spend some more time in their dens!
We ensured that we had left no trace before returning to school.
