Pupils were tasked with finding a stick no longer than their forearm. They were then asked to find a range of items from our forest school garden that might be used to create music. Using their prior knowledge of beat and rhythm that we have been learning about during music lessons, the pupils worked together to create a beat with their musical instruments. We talked about the different sounds that could be made, using appropriate language, and discussed other sounds that can be heard in nature e.g. birds, river flowing, wind in the trees etc. All items were placed back where they were found before leaving the area.
