23/6/26 – Bug Investigations
As part of our Minibeasts topic, P3 headed to our Outdoor Learning Area today for a bug hunt. Before we started, we talked about different habitats and discussed where we might find different types of bugs. The children began by gently shaking the hedges over white paper to see if anything was living there. They were excited by what they discovered and enjoyed searching for signs of life in different areas. Using bug pots with magnifying lids, the children carefully collected a range of insects and minibeasts to observe more closely. They enjoyed looking at their features, comparing what they found and discussing where each creature lived. It was a great opportunity to develop observation skills and learn more about the habitats around our school. All of the minibeasts were carefully released back into their natural habitats at the end of the session.
