Our P1 children enjoyed a magical Forest School session based on the story Freddie and the Fairy by Julia Donaldson.

The story helped the children think about the importance of speaking clearly, looking at the person they are talking to and helping others to understand what we mean.

Afterwards, the children explored the Forest School area and gathered leaves and other natural materials to decorate their own nature wands. They carefully attached the leaves to their sticks before adding pipe cleaners and ribbon to make each wand unique.

Weaving and twisting the pipe cleaners around the sticks was a great way to develop fine motor skills, while the whole activity encouraged creativity, listening and imaginative play.

We finished the session by making a wish and promise with our nature wands to look after nature and forest school.
