Today our new Primary One children joined us for their very first Forest School session! P2 and L1 children were excellent role models and were really keen to share the fun with their new friends! After revising the rules, we played the whistle game and used the time to chat to the P1 children about the boundary flags and how we use them to keep ourselves safe. We also discussed the animals in the pictures on an individual basis. We had an extended play time today to allow the children lots of time to explore the site and practise the rules. At the end of the session, the older children showed the younger ones how we ‘leave no trace’ and we allowed some extra time for handwashing and removal of waterproofs & wellies. Great fun was had by all in today’s session and the children showed lots of curiosity about the natural environment.
