17th April 2026 – Nature Sketches
After looking at nature sketches by artists and illustrators such as Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci and Beatrix Potter, children selected one aspect of the forest to sketch. Some children focussed on a flower, other focussed on trees and some included a mix of various objects. It was pleasing to see children’s observation skills being used effectively. Children then participated in a ‘walking gallery’ and shared their sketches with others. Children then shared which sketch they liked best and justified their reason why. To conclude, children enjoyed some free play in the Forest. Most children gave this activity a thumbs up. One child who put thumbs down said it was because he doesn’t enjoy art, but did enjoy the free time at the end.
