14th May 2026 – Nature Games
Children were given the task of creating or re-creating a game using natural materials, after having discussing plastic pollution and wasted plastic in many games. They also had to come up with a name for their game, along with rules to be followed when playing the game. Children worked well in their groups to create a range of ideas. Some re-created ideas, for example, ‘Forest Football’ and ‘Wonderful Obstacle’, whereas another came up with ‘Lily Pad’, where you rolled a stone to move along ‘lily pads’. Another group created ‘London Bridge’, where you had to see how many rocks/stones you could balance before the bridge fell. The final group created a litter pick game, where you had to collect as many pieces of rubbish within a given time, earning points as you did so. It was pleasing to see a wide range of games designed, with children’s own interests influencing their choices. All, except one child due to the cold and the team he was in, rated the activity as having a great time.
