Our P1 children enjoyed a lovely Forest School session based around the story Pumpkin Soup.
The story encouraged the children to think about acceptance, teamwork and the importance of everyone having a role, while also showing that it is okay to swap jobs and try something new.
After listening to the story, the children gathered natural materials from the outdoor area to create their own pretend pumpkin soup.
They added their ingredients to a large pot, stirred them with spoons, mashed them together and then served their soup into bowls.
The activity gave the children lots of opportunities to work together, take turns and use their imagination, while also developing both fine and gross motor skills through collecting, stirring, mashing and serving.
