Today we enjoyed the first Forest School session of the new academic year. The children were very excited to show off new puddle suits and wellies and to get back up on to our Forest School site. We have some new children who have joined this year, so we took time to revise the 3 rules of Forest School and to talk about observing the boundary by looking out for the flags. The children enjoyed exploring the site during the whistle game, discovering many changes that have taken place over the summer holidays. We took some time back at the log circle to show off and talk about our findings before having free play. We ensured we left no trace at the end of our session and had a great show of ‘thumbs up’. One little boy showed thumbs down, although he had appeared to have had great fun. When asked why he hadn’t enjoyed the session, he said, “It was over too quickly!” Time flies when we’re having fun!
