11/6/26 – Roman Stick Challenge
Today, P4 visited Six Mile Water River Park to take part in a Roman Stick Build Challenge. The lesson began with a recap of Roman numerals, and the children worked in groups to collect sticks of similar lengths. Using these materials, they created the Roman numerals 1-10 and discussed the importance of teamwork and communication.
Next, the children were challenged to design and build a structure using sticks and natural materials that could support the weight of a stone. They explored different construction techniques, tested their designs and made improvements to strengthen their creations.
At the end of the session, each group presented and tested their structure. The children reflected on the building methods they had used, discussed how they worked together as a team and celebrated their success in completing the engineering challenge.
